Angus Parade to Summer Shows

June brings out the Angus folk marching to the Angus shows. The first weekend in June the parade is to the South Carolina Junior Angus Show at the T. Ed Garrison Arena in Clemson. This is the debut of our juniors and their heifers for the 2009 year’s show circuit. It usually provides as much action as any circus ring or rodeo.

Next the South Carolina juniors travel to the Eastern Regional Junior Angus Show (June 25-27) and the National Junior Angus Show during the summer. This year the National Junior Angus Show will be at our Georgia neighbors place in Perry, GA. The Georgia Junior Angus is hosting the show on July 19-25. In order to put on the show they need help from their friends and neighbors. Christy Bell Page is accepting donations for them at Georgia Angus Association, 638 Lake Crest Dr., Jefferson, GA 30549. You might want to purchase a lottery ticket for an embryo listed on www.njas.info .Click on the Embryo Lottery Tab. To purchase tickets email info@georgiaangus.org with how many $100 tickets you want and include your contact information. The drawing will occur at the National Junior Angus Show in July.

To top off the summer the vacation time culminates with Clemson’s All Beef Rou nd-Up. This year it falls on August 1-2 at the T. Ed Garrison Arena in Clemson, SC. Contact John Irwin at jwirwin@clemson.edu and at 864/984-2514, ext. 117 or Larry Olson @lolson@clemson.edu and at 803/284-3343 ext. 23 for entry information.

Cattlemen invited to sign up to receive online supplement to the Angus Beef Bulletin.

Cattlemen have until the 19th to sign up to receive the next issue of the Angus Beef Bulletin Extra, a new information source distributed by e-mail from Team Angus. With the help of the American Angus Association® and Certified Angus Beef LLC (CAB), Angus Productions Inc. (API) launched the first edition of the "Bulletin Extra" this winter.

The Bulletin Extra provides regular monthly news and features covering the latest in market trends, herd management, health and nutrition, and other industry issues; as well as a calendar of events and insight from Angus experts. The free e-mail news service features helpful resources and links to web sites devoted to key topics and industry meetings. An advantage of the electronic format is the ability to send time-sensitive information more quickly.

View the current issue at www.angusbeefbulletin.com/extra/2009/feb09/index_css.html. Then sign up at www.angusbeefbulletin.com (see upper left corner) or e-mail your request to be signed up to bulletinextra@angusbeefbulletin.com.

If you have any questions, topic suggestions or comments about the Bulletin Extra, contact Crystal Albers, API associate editor, at 816-383-5215 or calbers@angusjournal.com.

The concept for electronic supplement grew from an American Angus Association task force directed to further enhance the commercial programs efforts of the Association and its subsidiaries and API's desire to increase communication with commercial producers beyond the five printed issues of the Angus Beef Bulletin®.

API and CAB® are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the American Angus Association, which is headquartered in Saint Joseph, Mo.

If you would like to join the SCAA, dues are $20. Make check out to SCAA. Send your news and information for the South Carolina Angus Association to Windy Bartee, sec. SCAA, 1717 St. Paul Church Road, Clover, SC 29710 TEL: 803-222-7533 Email: tumblet8@bellsouth.net. The SCAA web page is www.scangus.org.
