Summer is upon us. The South Carolina Juniors are heading out for the shows. Perry , Gerogia is the first stop on June 3-4 for the Southern Naationals. This article will be a copy of the letter send to the South Carolina Angus Juniors from their advisors telling them about their opportunities for the shows this summer. It was good to see several of you at the Carolina Futurity in March! A HUGE thanks to everyone who donated and purchased items in the Silent Auction this year or donated to the SCJAA shows to support the Juniors and especially to Barbara Smith and Gwen McPhail for making the silent auction run smoothly!!

NJAA Raising the Bar was held at Clemson University in April. Cory Watt, Mary Hall, Carrie Elmore, Sally, Drake & Corbin Yon; and Spencer & Rachel Pegues all attended and represented your SC Junior Assoc. Thanks guys!!
NJAA events
Hopefully you all received your Green booklet from NJAA with info about all the Junior Shows, Contests, and Conferences. If you need any of this info it can be found on the AAA website at www.angus.org Just go to the Junior Activities tab. We do have several Juniors attending the Eastern Regionals in Louisiana and the National Junior Show in Pennsylvania. It is not too late to enter- deadline for ownership and entries is May 15th for Eastern Regional and June 1 for NJAS. If you have questions contact any of the Junior Advisors. (***Don't forget the 2012 NJAS is in Louisville, KY so we will hope to take a big group to that one!!)
You can enter many of the contests WITHOUT attending the National Show!!! Photography, creative writing, graphic design, etc… This is a great way to participate.
SC Jr. Preview Show – Due to very few entries and date conflicts the 2010 show was cancelled. (It has always been held on the first Saturday in June) We anticipated the same for 2011 and did not plan a junior preview. All SC Juniors are invited to the Southern National June 3-4 in Perry, GA – if you are interested, please e-mail me and I can forward you all the information.

We traditionally elected officers at our June Preview Show, but hopefully can conduct that by mail/email this year. Current officers are

IMPORTANT – If you are willing to serve as an officer please respond to me by email, phone call or US mail by May 15 so we can prepare a ballot for the election. The form to respond is attached separately and can be returned via email or US Mail.
If you would like to participate in the Natl. Showmanship contest in July in Pennsylvania, please indicate that you will attend and would like to represent SC.
If you would like to serve as a voting delegate for the NJAA Board of Directors election, please indicate on the form. SC Junior, Sally Yon, will be running to serve on the NJAA Board of Directors.
If you have any questions about the SCJAA or NJAA please contact the advisors. There are many fabulous opportunities for leadership development, scholarships, Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards, and numerous contests!! Get involved today!!
